Your plan limits at a glance: where to see each one in cPanel and in your account

cPanel & WHM·· 18 views· 8 min read

The short answer: every plan has a limit for disk space, the number of sites, e-mails per hour, CPU, memory, entry processes, number of processes, I/O, IOPS and files (inodes). The Limits per plan table further down gives each plan’s figures; your account’s usage is shown in cPanel. Traffic, e-mail accounts, databases and FTP accounts are unlimited. In your account in Meu Interweb, once usage passes 75%, the service page shows a banner with the usage and a See the account usage button. This page puts it all together: where to see each limit and what it is on each plan.

Where to see each thing

Limit From Pro to Business Ultra Where to see it in cPanel To bring it down
Disk space 10 GB to 200 GB The Statistics sidebar (Disk Usage) and the Disk Usage page, folder by folder: how much disk space you are using Disk space nearly full
Files (inodes) 200,000 to 2 million The Statistics sidebar, under File Usage or Inodes: counting your inodes Too many inodes
Sites 1, 6 or unlimited The Statistics sidebar, under Addon Domains More sites than the plan allows
E-mails per hour 100 to 1,000 Track Delivery: how many e-mails you sent this hour The hourly sending limit
CPU 1 to 4 cores (100% to 400%) Resource Usage and the Statistics sidebar CPU at the limit
Memory 1 GB to 8 GB Resource Usage and the Statistics sidebar Reducing memory use
Entry processes (EP) 20 to 100 Resource Usage and the Statistics sidebar Entry processes at the limit
Number of processes (NPROC) 60 to 200 Resource Usage and the Statistics sidebar Too many processes
I/O and IOPS 10 to 50 MB/s; 1,024 to 8,192 IOPS Resource Usage and the Statistics sidebar Disk I/O at the limit
Traffic, e-mail accounts, databases, FTP Unlimited The Statistics sidebar shows how many you have, for reference only What really is unlimited

The Resource Usage graphs, step by step: checking resource usage in cPanel and reading the graphs. cPanel menu names change with the version and the language. If your cPanel is in another language, look for the same position on the screen: Resource Usage sits in the Metrics section.

Note the CPU: it is the same on Pro and Plus (1 core) and on Ultra and Business Pro (2 cores). On every plan, traffic, e-mail accounts, databases and FTP accounts are unlimited.

Reseller plans: Reseller I has 10 accounts and 50 GB, II has 30 accounts and 120 GB, III has 60 accounts and 250 GB, and each client account gets the limits of one plan: Reseller I those of Pro, Reseller II those of Plus and Reseller III those of Ultra (CPU, memory, entry processes, processes, I/O, IOPS and inodes).

In your account in Meu Interweb, then in cPanel

1 In Meu Interweb, open Services and your hosting service. If usage has passed 75% of the limit, a banner appears at the top of the page with the percentage and a See the account usage button.
2 Click the button. The page that opens shows the usage bar, how much of the plan’s limit you use and when it was measured. It is the same page the link in our warning e-mails opens.
3 That page gives you two ways forward: Upgrade, for more resources straight away without losing anything; or free up space and use Check now, which measures the account again.
4 No banner? Usage is below 75%. To see the rest, log in to cPanel and look at the Statistics sidebar: each resource with its current value and the maximum.
5 For CPU, memory, processes and I/O over time, open Metrics > Resource Usage. Statistics is a photograph; the graphs are the film.
6 If any resource is close to the limit, follow the article in the “To bring it down” column and decide with the table further down.

The warning e-mails: when the account reaches 75%, 85% and 95% of the limit on a resource, we send you an e-mail with every resource on the account, each with its limit and the percentage you use (sites are listed but never trigger a warning), and the plans you can upgrade to. The limit is 100%. Above it the account may be suspended, and we always warn you the day before. To reactivate it, upgrade (it reactivates by itself right after) or ask for 24 hours to sort it out, through the link in the e-mail: the account stays active for 24 hours and, if it is still over the limit at the end, it is suspended again straight away (you can ask for the 24 hours once every 7 days). The rest is in usage warnings at 75%, 85% and 95%. Always check that the e-mail is ours: how to tell whether an e-mail really came from us.

Optimise or upgrade?

What you see Optimise or upgrade?
Space or files close to the limit, with backups, Trash, Spam or caches inside Optimise. Clean up first, with a copy before you delete.
CPU, memory or processes at the limit at any hour, even with few visitors Optimise. It is nearly always the site, not the plan.
You need more sites or more e-mails per hour Upgrade. Those are fixed figures of the plan. For newsletters, a dedicated sending service.
Several resources climb together, month after month, with the business Upgrade. A bigger plan gives more of all of them at once.
You need resources of your own, or to install your own software A VPS or Cloud server, rather than another shared plan.

Bigger plans

Each step has more of nearly everything, as the “Limits per plan” table above shows; the exception is CPU, which is the same on Pro and Plus and on Ultra and Business Pro. After an upgrade, the new limits show up in the same Statistics sidebar and the same graphs. You upgrade in Meu Interweb, pay only the difference up to the renewal date, and the site, the e-mail and the files stay where they are: how to upgrade your plan. Which step to pick: which hosting plan comes next. For your clients’ sites, reseller hosting; for resources of your own, a VPS or a Cloud server.

“Unlimited” does not mean free of consequences. Unlimited e-mail accounts and databases still use space, files and processes, and those do have limits. A mailbox nobody ever clears fills the disk and the inodes at the same time: what really is unlimited.
Two minutes a month is enough. Check whether there is a banner on the service page in Meu Interweb, open cPanel’s Statistics, and read the summary sentence in Resource Usage. If all three are calm, the plan is enough.

A resource close to the limit and you have already cleared what you could? Upgrade in Meu Interweb: the site, the e-mail and the files stay where they are.
