Pro, Plus, Ultra or Business: choosing without guesswork

Shared plans come in four steps: Pro, Plus, Ultra and the Business line. They all carry the same panel, the same certificate and the same daily backup. What separates them is four numbers, and those four are the ones worth thinking about.

Four questions, in this order

1 How many sites are going on it? One, half a dozen, or more than you care to count? Answer for a year from now, not for today. This question alone rules out half the options.
2 What kind of sites are they? A brochure site or a blog weigh almost nothing. A shop, a members area, a forum, anything with user accounts, weigh a great deal more, because every visit makes the server think instead of handing over a file that is already built.
3 How many people at the same time? Not the monthly total: the peak. A hundred people spread across a day is nothing; a hundred people in the same minute, because a campaign just went out, is a different matter.
4 Is email serious here? If the business runs on email, or if the site sends invoices and confirmations by itself, look at the messages per hour ceiling. If email is the part that really matters, consider a separate professional email plan built for it.
5 How much space will it take? Add up the photography, the downloads, the database history and, above all, the mailboxes: they sit on the same disk as the site, and they are the most common surprise.

Which column answers which question

On the hosting plans table, every question maps to one column. Compare those, and ignore the rest.

Your question The column to read
How many sites? Number of Sites and Addon Domains
What kind of sites, and how many people? This is what pushes you up a step. Shops and busy sites live better on the Business line.
How much email? Emails per hour
How much space? Storage
Do not choose on the columns that say "Unlimited". Mailboxes, databases, FTP accounts and subdomains say unlimited on every step, so they tell you nothing. The four columns above are the ones that separate the plans, and those carry numbers.

A shortcut, step by step

If this is your situation Start by looking at
A first site: brochure, portfolio or blog Pro
More than one site, all of them still small Plus
Several sites, and you no longer want to count them Ultra
A shop that genuinely sells, or heavy traffic and heavy email the Business line
Sites belonging to your own clients, each with its own panel and invoice not this product: see reseller hosting
When in doubt, start one step lower. After a month cPanel shows you the real consumption under Resource Usage, and then you decide on evidence instead of a hunch. Moving up later is easy; what you never get back is a year of paying for more than you used.

If none of them fits

Some cases do not fit on a step. If the site is WordPress and nothing else, look at WordPress hosting. If you need root access or your own software, look at a VPS server or a cloud server. If you are an organisation with requirements of your own, ask for a quote and let us talk.

And if the site already lives somewhere else, moving it is on us: see hosting migration.

Tell us how many sites you have, what kind they are and how much email you send. We will tell you which plan, without pushing you upwards.
