Broadcasting your radio on YouTube and Facebook with Live Stream

VPS & Servers·· 4 views· 4 min read

Streaming Ultra plan only. Live Stream to YouTube and Facebook is part of the Ultra plan and is not available on Pro or Plus. The short answer: the panel sends your station’s broadcast to a live stream on your YouTube channel or your Facebook page. On YouTube or Facebook you create a live stream “with streaming software” and copy two things: the server address and the stream key. In your radio panel you paste them and switch the broadcast on. On SonicPanel the option is the YouTube or Facebook broadcast; VoxStream has it too, as Live Stream to social networks.

What you need, and where to find each part

What Where to find it
The Streaming Ultra plan In your order. If you have Pro or Plus, Live Stream is not included: talk to us about changing plan.
A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled In YouTube Studio, under Create > Go live. The first activation of live streaming can take a while: check the rules in YouTube’s official help.
A Facebook page In Facebook’s Live Producer, choosing to go live with streaming software or a stream key.
Server address and stream key On the live stream screen, on YouTube or Facebook. The key is a password: whoever has it can broadcast on your channel.
The Live Stream option in the panel SonicPanel: the YouTube or Facebook broadcast. VoxStream: Live Stream to social networks.

Taking your station live on YouTube or Facebook

1 Make sure your plan is Streaming Ultra. Without it, the option does not appear or does not work.
2 On YouTube: open YouTube Studio, Create > Go live, the Stream tab (streaming software). Copy the stream URL and the stream key. Menu names change with the version and language.
3 On Facebook: open Live Producer on your station’s page, choose Streaming software and copy the server URL and the stream key. If you want to stay live all the time, look for the persistent stream key option, so you do not have to change it for every broadcast.
4 In your radio panel, open the Live Stream section (on SonicPanel, the YouTube or Facebook broadcast), pick the destination, paste the address and the key and, if the panel asks, the image that goes with the sound. Switch the broadcast on.
5 Check on YouTube or Facebook that the live stream is receiving a signal, and only then press publish or go live, if the platform asks you to.
6 Listen to the live stream on another device for a few minutes. What goes to YouTube and Facebook is whatever is on air: the AutoDJ or the live DJ.
Copyrighted music can mute or cut your live stream. YouTube and Facebook match the audio against music catalogues and may mute it, stop the stream or warn the channel, even when your station plays the same music without trouble on its own player. Read each platform’s rules and only broadcast what you have the right to. And never share the stream key: if it leaks, generate a new one on the platform and replace it in the panel.
Test first with an unlisted or private live stream. That way you check that sound and picture arrive properly without announcing anything to your followers. When everything is right, switch the visibility to public.

On the Ultra plan and the live stream will not start, or YouTube says it is not receiving data? Open a support ticket in Meu Interweb with the panel you use, the destination (YouTube or Facebook) and the message you see.
